Google is all set to release Android 11 as a stable update soon. The company has already released the first Android 11 Beta build for its Pixel lineup. And soon, we expect to see other manufactures kick start the Android 11 beta program for their smartphones as well. Moreover, custom ROM enthusiasts will also be able to rejoice. This is because we can expect to see the development of new custom ROMs based on Android 11.
One of the most popular Android distributions is the open-source LineageOS. It is built upon the Android AOSP source code and is one of the most stable and feature-packed custom ROMs. Additionally, thanks to the fast-paced development, software updates and bug fixes often arrive early rather than later. LineageOS supports a host of different smartphones and the latest available LineageOS is version 17.1. It’s based on Android 10 and it’s already available for multiple devices from various OEMs.
Nonetheless, since Android 11’s official release is around the corner, we do expect to see LineageOS 18 to be available soon. Of course, we will first see the release of beta builds for LineageOS 18 after which the stable version will arrive.
